In the spirit of the new year BT has decided to hack the charges of its Infinity Broadband internet for those signing up this January or February.

BT Infinity 1 uses fibre-based broadband for high-speed connections. During January new customers can will pay £7.50 per month for the first six months, then £15 per month for the rest of the 18-month contract. So an average of £12.50 per month.

Standard BT Broadband is also on offer for new customers at £5 per month for six months then £10 per month for the remainder of the 18-month contract. That's an average of £8.33 per month.

While BT doesn't mention it on the press release it usually charges a compulsory line rental on top of those prices, and this will go up from 1 January, so add around £16 per month to those amounts.

The deals run from now until mid-March. The BT Broadband contract offers free Wi-Fi at hotspots, the latest Home Hub 5 (with 802.11ac Wi-Fi) and BT Sport which is now home to many Premiership football matches.
