Shimano rolls onto the action camera scene with its first CM-1000 Sports Camera
2/4/2014 4:07:00 PM

Shimano, most famous for its bike components, has unveiled its first action cam in the form of the CM-1000 Sports Camera.

The Shimano CM-1000 is an HD video camera that works with ANT+ sensors. This means cycling performance, measured on a cadence or heart rate ANT+ sensor, can be relayed with video footage - ideal for those in training.

The camera itself features an f/2.0 lens and 16-megapixel CMOS sensor. It can shoot in 1920 x 1080 at 30fps or 720p at 120fps. Dual shooting modes can record at a 135-degree angle or super wide 180 degrees. The camera can be placed vertically or horizontally and the video will automatically come out in landscape ratio.

The waterproof action camera handles watery depths down to 10 metres without any external case. Integrated Wi-Fi means it works with iOS and Android apps for live view recording, playback and remote control.

The CM-1000 has no on-board memory but supports up to 32GB microSD cards. The camera comes with an adhesive mount and vented helmet mount in the box.

Pricing and availability will be announced in May.
