ITV has just announced that it will be launching a new channel called ITV Encore, its first new one in eight years.
ITV Encore will be pay to view when it arrives on Sky as part of a wider four year partnership. That will mean ITV content is made available across Sky platforms including Sky Go and NOW TV.
The new channel will house some of ITV's most successful drama shows. From 2015 it will also show original programming from ITV with: "big name lead actors and compelling narratives penned by some of the UK's best writers," claims the channel.

The fact that the channel is launching on Sky is interesting as it shows broadcast television channels eager to utilise the multi-level viewing platforms Sky has built in-home and online.
Jeremy Darroch, Sky Chief Executive, said: "The wider availability of ITV programmes on our fast-growing connected TV services, including Sky Go, Sky Store and NOW TV, will make Sky stand out as a great place to enjoy ITV, on multiple devices, both at home and on the go."
