MakerBot has just announced the MakerBot Replicator 3D Printing platform at CES 2014, which includes the new MakerBot Replicator Mini, fifth-generation Replicator printer, and MakerBot Replicator Z18.

The smallest Replicator is the Mini. It's like a consumer 3D printer with one-touch controls, and it doesn't need leveling to print in PLA filament. Consumers can also print via mobile devices. The Mini features Wi-Fi and a built-in camera, so you can track objects as they are built and share photos taken from inside.

The Mini also has a user-friendly extruder that you can easily change in and out of the device. The entire setup costs $1,379 (£840) and ships this spring.

The fifth-generation MakerBot Replicator is a prosumer 3D printer that prints in PLA filament. It has an 11 per cent larger build volume, faster build times, 100-micron-layer resolution, instant build plate leveling system, small camera for tracking, and a 3.5-inch screen. The Replicator's screen provides options for printing, preheating the printer, or changing the filament.

The machine also has connection support for Wi-Fi, USB stick, Ethernet, or USB, and it provides access your 3D object library. The entire setup is available now for $2,899 (£1,767) and will ship in a few weeks.

As for the MakerBot Z18, it's a mammoth 3D printer that can print huge objects. Such objects include other MakerBots, which is what the company plans to do with the Z18. It features an enclosed build chamber and prints in PLA. There are no details on pricing or availability at the moment.
