Sony may have a new SmartWatch planned for 2014
12/26/2013 5:48:12 PM
Sony is planning to release a new smartwatch in the near future, if a filing with the FCC is any indication (it usually is). The Japan-based company filed to get approval for the "BT Wrist Notifier". It carries a model number of SWR10, a step up from the SW2 model number used for the SmartWatch 2 currently available on the market.
Specifications or design weren't revealed in the filing. It simply said the wearable is packing NFC and Bluetooth, and that the SWR10 passed with flying colours - gaining approval.

Aimed to be a second-screen companion for your Android smartphone, the SmartWatch 2 was released in October with a waterproof design, 1.6-inch 220 x 176 pixel resolution display, and Sony's custom Android software. Presumably, the SWR10 will improve on the second-generation wearable.
The CES 2014 trade show takes place in early January, and it wouldn't surprise us if Sony made an appearance with the new wearable.
