Caribu for iPad app lets you read picture ebooks to kids during a video call
1/23/2014 12:40:00 AM

There's a new ebook reading app available for iPad that uniquely works with video calls.

It's called Caribu for iPad. Caribu is geared toward children, with a focus on bedtime stories. Specifically, users will be able to read picture books on their iPad while simultaneously seeing and hearing friends or family through a video call.

That means parents can read their children stories while away on a business trip. alternatively, grandparents who live in another country or state can use Caribu to watch their grandchildren read from the first time. After all, Caribu is described as a "new bedtime reading app for seperated families."

Caribu is free and comes with one free ebook. You can buy other reading material through The Caribu Bookshop, including titles from children's picture book publisher Maverick Arts. Example titles include The Fearsome Beastie and Grandma Bendy.

Caribu is now available in Apple's App Store. Additonal ebooks are available as in-app purchases for around £1.99 in the UK or $2.99 in the US. Lastly, the Caribu team said it will add new communication features for the app in the future.
