Huawei launches Ascend P6S with slight speed bump, thicker build
1/19/2014 6:00:53 PM
Huawei has taken the wraps off the S version of its Ascend P6 smartphone, not changing too much in the process.
The Ascend P6S is 0.3mm thicker than the first version, sitting at 6.5mm and carrying the same 2,000mAh battery. The processor has seen a slight bump as well, going to a quad-core 1.6GHz processor from a 1.5GHz chipset. Once again there isn't LTE support, but dual SIM support is found.
The rest of the specifications on the Ascend P6S stay the same. It features a 4.7-inch 720p display, 8-megapixel rear-camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Huawei's custom Emotion UI 2.0, and we presume it will be updated to KitKat soon.

In November, Huawei's president announced an Ascend P6S with an octa-core processor, but it's not clear where the super-fast processor is today. The company has apparently ditched it for a slight upgrade to its quad-core processor.
The Ascend P6S has first gone on sale in China. Pricing and availability hasn't been announced for the UK, but you bet we'll keep a close watch.
