Asus unveils tiny Chromebox capable of 4K output

Asus has unveiled a new Chromebox, set to launch in March for $179.
The mini Chrome OS computer sits 4.880-inches wide and 1.65-inches tall, making it the world's smallest Chrome computer. The Chromebox features 802.11 b/g/n wireless, four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and display ports for viewing content, SD card reader, an Intel Haswell processor, 2GB or 4GB of memory, and integrated Intel HD graphics.
Why so cheap? The thought is the Chrome OS software provided by Google doesn't require too much processing power. It's a lightweight software that allows users to work with web applications.
"The ASUS Chromebox offers the simplicity, security and speed of Chrome OS in the most compact and powerful Chrome device to date," said Felix Lin, director of product management for Google. "Perfect for home, the classroom or the office, Chromebox is designed for the way we use computers today."
A keyboard and mouse aren't bundled into the $179 deal offered by Asus, but the peripherals will be part of a more expensive package, the company confirmed. The Intel i3 version of the Asus Chromebox even features 4K UDH playback, which could make it a prime candidate for a Netflix media streamer, especially with its fanless build.
